Frequently Asked Questions

ISO certification is independent, third-party confirmation that your management system meets an international standard. An accredited certification body audits your company and issues the certificate. ISO writes the standards but does not certify companies itself.

ISO certification is voluntary, not required by law. In practice it is often required to qualify for government tenders, supplier registration, and international contracts, so most companies treat it as a commercial necessity.

An ISO certificate is valid for three years. You pass a surveillance audit each year and a full recertification audit at the end of the cycle to renew it.

Timing depends on your readiness, scope, sites, corrective actions and the issuing body’s availability. Agree an indicative schedule after the requirement is reviewed; no completion date is guaranteed.

Accreditation concerns independent oversight of a certification body for a defined scope. A buyer may require accreditation from a particular body or scheme. Check the issuer, accreditation scope and buyer’s acceptance criteria; do not assume every certificate is accepted.

Search IAF CertSearch by certificate number or company name and compare the standard, scope, status and issuing body with the certificate. A missing result alone does not prove non-accreditation; follow up with the issuer, accreditation body or IAF CertSearch before deciding.

According to company-reported figures, IraqCert has over 15 years of experience and has supported more than 350 companies in obtaining certification. Based in Erbil, it serves companies across Iraq. Confirm the proposed issuing body and accreditation scope before booking. Certificates are issued through partner body AQSR, accredited by the United Accreditation Foundation (UAF), an IAF MLA signatory, and can be verified on IAF CertSearch. ISO 29001 is outside AQSR’s disclosed UAF-accredited scope; confirm the issuing body and its accreditation scope before booking an ISO 29001 audit.
